Asakusa
浅草
Asakusa is the place you have to visit if it is your first time in Tokyo. Please grab hand made ”osennbei (rice cookies)”, and walk to the Sensoji Temple. You can take a boat from Azuma bridge to Hamarikyu Garden. The main draw in Asakusa is the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo, Sensoji Temple. From the entrance of Sensoji Temple, Kaminari-mon Gate to Main Hall, there is a shopping street that you can buy some traditional goods, such as Kimono and folding fan.

Kaminarimon Gate is starting point to visit Sensoji. There are two statues guarding Sensoji; Fujin, “god of wind” and Raijin, “god of thunder and lightning”.
There are a shopping street of over 200 meters, called “Nakamise”that you can buy some traditional goods, such as Kimono and folding fan.
It is from the outer gate to the temple’s second gate.
Sensoji is reputedly one of Tokyo’s oldest temples, having been founded in 628. It ranks among the top 10 temples in Japan for the number of visitors in the new year.
